MISCI Is Redefining What Brazilian Fashion Looks Like

Founded by designer Airon Martin, the multidisciplinary label is building a distinctive visual language around identity, culture and contemporary design.

There is no single way to define Brazilian style. And perhaps that is precisely the point.

Founded in 2018 by Airon Martin, who grew up in Sinop, Mato Grosso, MISCI works across clothing, accessories and furniture. Its name references miscigenação, or cultural mixing, which the label approaches as a critical creative proposition rather than a decorative motif.

For decades, the country’s fashion identity has often been reduced to a familiar vocabulary of tropical colour, beachwear and effortless sensuality. MISCI offers a different perspective, one that feels equally Brazilian but considerably harder to categorise.

The label approaches fashion as part of a wider cultural conversation. Clothing, accessories and objects become different expressions of the same creative point of view.

Beyond the Expected

Martin brings an understanding of Brasil’s cultural and geographical diversity to his work. His designs move between clean lines, expressive proportions and references rooted in everyday Brazilian life.

MISCI does not need to rely on obvious national symbols to communicate where it comes from. Its identity emerges through the way familiar ideas are reconsidered and given a contemporary form.

This is particularly evident in the brand’s multidisciplinary approach. By moving between fashion and objects, MISCI challenges the boundaries that traditionally separate what we wear from how we live.

Fashion as Cultural Expression

For Martin, fashion is more than the production of clothing. It is a way of engaging with society, its values and its contradictions.

That perspective gives MISCI a relevance beyond seasonal collections. The label belongs to a generation of Brazilian creative businesses interested in authorship as much as aesthetics.

Its work offers an alternative to the idea that international recognition requires designers to adopt an established global aesthetic.

Why MISCI Matters

For international audiences discovering Brazilian fashion, MISCI represents an important shift. It suggests that the country’s creative identity is not a fixed set of references, but an evolving conversation shaped by different regions, histories and perspectives.

In a global fashion landscape where originality is increasingly difficult to distinguish from novelty, a clear cultural point of view remains a powerful asset.
